Mrs. Manns, Westview’s computer and business teacher, is a huge fan of traveling. In 2004, on a study abroad trip through IU Bloomington, she traveled to Fiji, Australia, and New Zealand, meeting some cool animals and tons of new friends. She hiked to Weathertop and Mount Doom (for you Lord of the Rings fans), went skydiving over Lake Taupo, and whitewater rafting over a 23-foot waterfall. One of her favorite quotes: “attitude is the difference between an ordeal and an adventure.”

SENIORS: Your graduation announcements have arrived and will be available to be picked up on MONDAY, MAY 11, from 8:30-11:30am at the auditorium doors. A handful of you still need to pick up your cap and gown, so those will be available, as well.

The teacher feature for today is Mrs. Heather Eash! She has been at Westview for 16 years and has taught sophomore English for 7 years, yearbook for 7, and junior high social studies for 9. Her favorite subject to teach is 8th grade US history. She’s a huge Abraham Lincoln fan and visited his house in Springfield during the last spring break. She is the jump rope team sponsor and has led the Washington DC trip for the last 7 years. She wants all of her students to know that she misses them tremendously! ❤️

Veteran science teacher, Mr. Les Hively, is a man of many talents. We all know he has a passion for teaching chemistry and coaching cross country, but did you also know he enjoys making apple pies and banana bread? His college jobs were: janitor, Resident Assistant (RA), basketball referee, electrician’s assistant, and laboratory assistant. When not at Westview, he can be found tending to the pigs in his barn.
Fun fact..art teacher Mrs. Martin lived above the basement he lived in during Grad School at Purdue.

If you’ve been a 7th grader at Westview over the past 36 years, chances are you’ve had Mrs. Nichols as a science teacher. Fun fact...she’s had her paper crafts and art journals published and had work shown in magazines, books, and television. Thank you for giving Westview students 36 years of your expertise and knowledge. ❤️
We like to shine the staff spotlight on Mrs. Shaney Bender who qualified last June for the BOSTON MARATHON! Fun fact...she qualified at the Charlevoix Marathon in Michigan which was the first full marathon she had ever competed in. WOW! Her training partners have been her three dogs and it looks like they’ll be running with her a little longer because the Boston Marathon has been rescheduled for September 14, 2020. CONGRATULATIONS, Mrs. Bender! #WarriorPride
It’s time for another teacher feature, and today is dedicated to Mr. Ryan Glassman who teaches US History and Government. Fun fact...Mr. Glassman was named Drum Major of the Concord Marching Minutemen in 2001-2002. Under his leadership, Concord was the ISSMA State Runners-up in the 2002 Class B State Finals. Thank you, Glassman, for inspiring a love of American history and politics in the hearts and minds of Westview students.
LUAH (Learning Uniquely at Home) packets are being delivered TODAY on the two-hour delay bus schedule for regular bus riders. Please be ready to receive your packet and return any library books you might have when the bus arrives. Pick up times for non-bus riders are 8:30-10:30am (K-4) and 8:30-11:30am (grades 5-8.)
Today’s teacher spotlight is Mrs. Lauren Welch, formerly known as Miss McCoy. We’d like to formally congratulate her, as she was married on March 28!
Fun fact...Mrs. Welch is a pescatarian. The only meat she will eat is fish. She says, “I've never liked to eat meat, and I have been a pescatarian most of my life. I avoid the meat section in the grocery store because even seeing raw meat makes me nauseous.”

Westview’s very own Geek Squad, AKA technology department, will have a table setup at door 19 during the times that students can pickup their locker belongings. Students can get Chromebook chargers and have Chromebooks looked at for service if needed. These dates are the next four Mondays (4/27, 5/4, 5/11, 5/18) from 8:30-11:30am at the gym/auditorium doors.
Today’s teacher spotlight is dedicated to Mr. Paul Baker. Fun fact...he was a three time NECC pole vault champion in high school (1980, 81 & 82). He has been a teacher at Westview for 33 years, coached varsity track for 18 years and JH track for 1 year.
At-home learning packets are coming Monday. Buses will deliver on 2 hour delay schedule for regular riders. Pickup times for walkers and non-bus riders will be 8:30 to 10:30 AM at the K to 4 buildings and 8:30 to 11:30 AM for grades 6 to 8. High school will utilize E-learning.
CLASS OF 2020: EXCITING NEWS! We will be distributing your graduation caps and gowns and yard signs on Monday, April 27, from 9am-noon at the gym/auditorium doors.
1. If you left your Chromebook charger at school, you can pick it up THIS WEEK from 9-12pm at door 2. If for some reason you can't make it this week, please contact Randy Sizemore at sizemorer@westview.k12.in.us
