Did you see the solar eclipse today? What a fun day back from break!! Our students loved using their special glasses to view this amazing experience. You know what else is amazing? Eclipse Glasses USA is donating used solar eclipse glasses to Latin America for students to use for their upcoming eclipse in October. If you feel inclined to, you can return your child's eclipse glasses to school and we will send them to be donated! This was such a fun learning experience and we would love to help provide that opportunity to other fellow students.

Parents and students - tomorrow, April 8, 2024, we have the opportunity to enjoy a learning experience with the Total Solar Eclipse. Students will receive this same information again tomorrow as a reminder:
Students will receive appropriate eyewear for viewing the solar eclipse from the school. This eyewear should be placed over your eyes before looking up and not removed until you are no longer looking skyward. There is no point that the Westview school district will be in totality, which means there is no point at which it is safe for you to look up without the solar eclipse glasses.
Additionally, using phones, cameras, or other lenses that are not appropriately shielded for an eclipse could ruin the sensor on that device and severely lessen the photo quality of all your photos taken after the event. You should not take photos or videos of the event without this protective equipment (not provided). Viewing the eclipse through a device without proper shields could also cause damage to your eyes.
This is an exciting day those of us in the United States aren't expected to receive again until August 23, 2044, when the next total eclipse is projected by NASA to happen. Let's make it a great day!
