After analyzing the relationship between color, music, and our emotions, the 5th Graders created a piece of artwork that tried to capture these relationships visually. The 5th graders traced out a silhouette of a musician or instrument onto a large sheet of paper. Then they proceeded to paint the backgrounds with random shapes and colors. They tried to visualize the flow of music and emotion from their subject matter. Once the background was filled with color, they added a second layer of paint to create accent colors and additional feelings to the painting.
Mr. Keiser has selected Madeline Lehman from 5B to be the next featured artist for the 5th grade. Madeline showed excellent creativity in how she painted the colors and shapes coming from her saxophone image. The warm colors of the sound waves seemed to gently ooze out of the horn shape and she included an extra glow around the instrument’s mouthpiece. The use of cool colors in the background made the warm sound waves really stand out.
Great work Madeline!
