The 6th Grade Art classes were recently introduced to the paper cut-outs of Henri Matisse. Matisse was a French painter that transition to doing large scale cut-outs with paper near the end of his life. He liked to call his approach “painting with scissors”. The 6th grade class began their project by painting sheets of paper in various colors. Then they cut out geometric and organic shapes and arranged them on another sheet of paper. They finished off their work by adding a cut-out of a human figure to the composition.
Mr. Keiser is proud to announce that the featured artist for the Shape Cut-out project is Kayla Bontrager of 6D. Kayla did an excellent job cutting out some unique shapes. She used a good mixture of colors and shape sizes. The design is fun to look at and creates a sense of movement with the human figure. Great work Kayla
