The 5th Grade Art classes spent the last few weeks studying the Art Element of Value. They worked on a project where they were required to use 3 shading techniques to create areas of value. Students first used masking tape to spell out their initials. They then proceeded to fill in the negative space between their initials with shading. Once the shading was completed, they removed the masking tape to reveal the crisp white color of the paper. The sharp contrast between the white paper and shading help make the Artwork pop!
Mr. Keiser is proud to announce that the featured artist for the initial shading project is Savannah Yoder from 5C. Savannah used the techniques of blending, hatching, and scumbling in a highly effective way. She even incorporate a 4th technique of stippling. Savannah exhibited mastery over each area with a gentle gradation between the lights and darks. Exquisite work Savannah!
