“Notan” is a Japanese word that means light/dark harmony. This idea of balance was explored by 5th grade Art students. By using a combination of Geometric and Organic shapes, students created a unique notan design. The 5th graders did an amazing job with all of their projects.
The next Featured Artist for the 5th grade is Diane Miller from 5D. Diane’s notan not only reflected the sense of balance among her individual shapes, but among the entire work as well. Each of her shapes were carefully cut out and aligned to precision. Excellent work, Diane!
Along with Diane’s notan, be sure to see check out Austin Miller’s from 5C. Both notans can be found hanging in the lobby hallway.
