Investing in Teachers
The referendum funds have significantly bolstered staff recruitment and retention of highly qualified and motivated teachers. The referendum funds have also helped support teacher salaries and intervention programs for students because of inadequate state tuition and declining federal funding. Continuation of the referendum allows Westview to ensure instructional excellence, student success, and maintain small class sizes.
Improving Facilities
The referendum funds have allowed Westview to maximize resources for critical facility improvements to our school buildings and grounds, creating safer and more effective learning environments. Key projects supported directly by the referendum include:
Major renovations at Topeka Elementary and Shipshewana-Scott Elementary to update and modernize these facilities.
An annual allocation of $400,000 to $500,000 since 2022 to address facility needs and maintain high-quality infrastructure.
Rehabilitation of Westview Jr-Sr High and Westview Elementary parking lot
In 2022, $450,000 of referendum funds helped to support the total cost of replacing and upgrading the parking lot.
These efforts demonstrate Westview’s ongoing commitment to using every dollar wisely, ensuring that our students and staff have the resources they need to succeed. Thank you for your partnership in building a brighter future for our schools and community!
